How to make this Italian sliders recipe

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half and set the tops aside. Lightly spray a glass baking dish with nonstick spray and place the bottoms of the rolls into the dish.
A glass baking dish containing six square pieces of plain sandwich bread. Slices of salami and pepperoni are visible in bowls nearby on a white surface.
  • Step 2: Layer the reduced-fat provolone over the rolls.
A glass baking dish filled with stacked slices of ham on top of bread and cheese. Behind the dish are plates with slices of salami and pepperoni. The items are arranged on a white countertop.
  • Step 3: Add the lean ham, then the salami, and finally the turkey pepperoni.
A glass baking dish containing a rectangular layer of food, topped with overlapping slices of pepperoni and salami, is placed on a white surface.
  • Step 4: Place the tops on and bake for about 15 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
A glass baking dish containing a batch of sandwiches made with soft, golden-brown slider buns. Slices of pepperoni and possibly cheese are visible between the buns. The dish is on a white surface.
  • Step 5: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded lettuce, tomatoes, pepperoncini, light mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Toss until well coated.
A clear glass bowl filled with a chopped salad containing lettuce, diced tomatoes, pepperoncini, and sliced strips of deli meat, on a white surface.
  • Step 6: Let the rolls cool slightly. Remove the tops from the dish and spoon the chopped Italian sliders mixture over the pepperoni layer, smoothing it out evenly.
A glass baking dish filled with a mixed salad containing shredded lettuce, sliced bell peppers, and diced carrots sits on a striped cloth on a white surface.
  • Step 7: Replace the tops. Melt the reduced-fat butter in a microwave safe bowl for about 20 seconds.
A glass baking dish containing a batch of twelve golden-brown dinner rolls arranged in a 3-by-4 grid, sitting on a white striped cloth. Fillings are visible along the edges underneath the rolls.
  • Step 8: Brush the tops with the melted butter, then sprinkle with grated parmesan and a little extra Italian seasoning.
A glass baking dish filled with twelve golden-brown pull-apart slider buns topped with grated cheese, resting on a white and gray striped cloth on a white surface.

Notes

  • Use light mayonnaise for fewer calories
  • Slice sliders with a serrated knife for clean edges
  • Add extra shredded lettuce for more volume
  • Let sliders cool slightly before topping

Storage Directions

  • Refrigerator: Store leftover sliders in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For best results, store the salad mixture separately.
  • Freezer: Freeze the baked meat and cheese portion only. Wrap tightly and freeze up to 2 months. Add the fresh topping after reheating.
  • Reheat: Warm in a 325 degree oven until heated through. Add the lettuce mixture after reheating.
  • Make Ahead: Bake the meat and cheese layer in advance. Prepare the chopped topping and store separately. Assemble just before serving.
