Variations and Substitutions
- Protein- Try adding diced chicken or ground turkey on top of the zucchini before cooking.
- No Air Fryer? If you don't have an air fryer, you can also bake these in the oven at 375 degrees for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Vegetarian- skip the Parmesan cheese and substitute with nutritional yeast flakes for a cheesy flavor without dairy.
- Dipping Sauce - You can use your favorite dipping sauce such as Ranch Dressing or spicy mayo.
- Spices - Add your favorite seasoning to add some more flavor, you can always add some garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes or any of your other favorites.
- Oils - Instead of oil you can always use cooking spray to control the amount of oil you are using such as olive oil spray or avocado oil spray.
Equipment
- large mixing bowl
- Airfryer
Storage
Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
Reheat- just place them back in the air fryer for a few minutes until warm and crispy.
Pro Tips
- Instead of Zucchini slices try making some fun shapes. You can try some air fryer zucchini fries or zucchini sticks for a healthy side dish.
- Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket - this will prevent the food from cooking evenly and getting crispy. Cook in batches if needed.
- To add some crunch to your zucchini fries or sticks, try coating them in breadcrumbs before air frying.
- You can use a paper towel to get out the excess moisture of your Zucchini. Just use some sea salt to draw it out.
- Try not to make thin slices unless you want to do Zucchini chips.
- When making these air fry zucchini watch your cooking time so you don't burn the tops unless you are like me and love crispy zucchini.
FAQ
It is not necessary to peel your zucchini before air frying. The skin contains nutrients and adds a nice texture to the dish.
