Christmas Charcuterie Board

This Christmas charcuterie board is playful, colorful, and honestly way easier than it looks. It leans into the whole Grinch charcuterie board vibe, which always gets people laughing before they even grab a snack. The best part is that it doubles as a simple fruit board that feels fresh during all the heavier holiday food.

A round wooden board displays a face made from sliced kiwi, cucumber, cheese, black licorice, banana, strawberries, and crackers, with two black forks placed nearby on a white surface.

About this Christmas charcuterie board

I love making boards during the holidays, but this one hits a special spot because it brings out that silly Grinch energy without being complicated. It looks fancy at first glance, then everyone realizes it is mostly fruit and low fat cheese, which feels like a breath of fresh air on a crowded table. I like that it still reads festive even though it is lighter than most Christmas snacks.

This board has also turned into a fun little tradition because kids always want to help with the face. It turns into this messy, goofy moment in the kitchen that I secretly look forward to every year. The colors are bold enough that you barely have to try to make it look good, which is a win on busy holiday days.

I also like that it fits into almost any menu. You can serve it alongside my Keto Roll Ups which always disappear fast or a dessert like these cute Strawberry Mini Muffins for a light and fruity finish, or even something to graze next to my Brunch Charcuterie Board so people can nibble without stopping. It checks all the boxes for a Christmas charcuterie board that feels fun and still stays pretty light.

Ingredients

A banana, cucumber, two strawberries, two kiwis, a slice of cheddar cheese with a licorice piece on top, and a small bowl of black licorice are arranged on a white surface. Each item is labeled.
  • Low fat cheddar cheese – I like using low fat cheddar because it stays firm and cuts cleanly for the eyes. It keeps the whole board lighter without changing the look at all. The color still gives that warm holiday pop.
  • Strawberries – These become the hat, so try to grab bright and firm ones. They slice easily and hold their shape. Softer berries tend to slip around.
  • Licorice candies – These bring the face to life. I trim them a bit depending on the expression I want. They add just enough detail to make the Grinch look mischievous.
  • Banana – This works great for the trim on the hat. Use a banana that is just ripe so it holds its shape. A quick blot helps it stay fresh looking.
  • Kiwi – Kiwi makes the main part of the face, and keeping the skin on helps them stay sturdy. They release a lot of juice, so blotting is important. Even slices help the face lay flat.
  • Cucumber – This forms the outline of the Grinch face and adds a cool crunch. Slightly thicker slices work best so they do not flop. It gives the whole board structure.
  • Dark grape – This becomes the nose, and one grape is all you need. Pick one with a nice oval shape if you can. It gives the face a little personality.
  • Crackers – I scatter them around the edges or serve them on the side. Simple crackers work better because they do not compete with the fruit. Any shape adds nice texture.

A white wooden cutting board with several slices of fresh green kiwi arranged on top, set against a plain white background.
  1. Step 1: Rinse the kiwi and pat them completely dry. Trim tough spots but keep the skin on for firmness. Slice into circles and blot again to keep the board from getting juicy.

Recipe Tips

  • Blot all the fruit – This keeps the board clean and stops pieces from sliding around. It makes the face hold its shape better.
  • Build the face before decorating the rest – It is easier to adjust the proportions while the board is still empty. Once the face looks right, the rest is simple.
  • Use a flat, wide board – Curved boards make fruit slide. A stable board gives you room to shape the design.

Variations & Substitutions

  • Try different green fruit – Honeydew or green apples work great if kiwi is out of season. Just slice them thin enough to lay flat. The board still reads like a Grinch charcuterie board instantly.
  • Swap the cheese – Mozzarella or provolone slice well if you want a lighter colored eye. Just make sure the cheese is firm enough to hold shape. The look stays clear either way.
  • Use a different hat fruit – You can try raspberries or red grapes if strawberries are not available. Just shape them into a rough triangle. It keeps the Christmas theme without any extra work.

Serving Suggestions

  • I love serving this Christmas charcuterie board next to my Buffalo Chicken Thighs because the spicy heat plays so well with the cool fruit. It creates this fun mix of fiery and refreshing that people end up going back for. It turns the whole spread into a lively little combo.
  • A warm Mediterranean Quesadilla brings a savory hit that balances all the bright fruit on the board. I like cutting it into smaller wedges so it feels snacky. It keeps the table from leaning too sweet.
  • The light flavors in my Keto Shrimp and Broccoli sit really nicely beside the Grinch charcuterie board. It adds protein without weighing anything down. I love how clean the whole combo tastes together.
  • Tossing in some Air Fryer Broccolini gives your spread a salty crunch that pairs perfectly with the juicy fruit. I usually serve it warm which makes the chilled fruit even more refreshing. It adds a nice contrast without stealing attention.
  • My Charcuterie Skewers feel like they belong right next to a Christmas charcuterie board. They bring a cute mix of textures that make the fruit board even more fun to nibble on. People always grab one in each hand without thinking.

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • sharp knife
  • Small round cookie cutter or mold
  • Serving board or platter
  • Paper Towels
  • Small bowls for crackers or extras

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce Low Fat Cheddar
  • 10 strawberries
  • 4 licorice candies
  • 1 banana
  • 2 kiwi
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 dark grape
  • crackers to serve

Instructions

  • 1.Rinse kiwi in cold water and pat dry with a towel. Remove the tough parts of the fruit, leave the skin on. Slice the kiwi into 1/3-inch circles and blot them in a paper towel to remove excess juice.
  • 2.Remove the tips from the cucumber and slice into 1/4-inch thick circles. Lay out the cucumbers in an overlapping shape and leaving gaps for eyes.
  • From the kiwi, form the lower part of the face. With a 2-inch diameter mold, cut a circle of cheese, cut it in half. Arrange cheese eyes. Place the candy pupils on the cheese and add the nose from the grapes.
  • Form a cap from the strawberry halves. Lay out the down and pompon from banana slices. Add details – eyebrows and a smile from licorice candy.

Notes

  • Blot the kiwi and banana well so the board stays neat and nothing slides.
  • Keep the cheese cold before cutting so the Grinch eyes hold their shape.
  • Build the face first then fill in the rest of the board to keep the proportions right.
  • Use firm strawberries so the hat sits nicely without shifting.
  • A flat platter works better than a curved one since fruit tends to roll.
